POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Needs Ministry Coordinator supports FBA’s ministry to individuals with special needs, creating a safe, Christ-centered environment where each person is known, loved, discipled, and connected to the life of the church. This role partners with families, equips volunteers, and coordinates ministry programming and individualized care.

QUALIFICATIONS
1.      Must have a growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ
2.      Must align with FBA’s Statement of Faith, beliefs, mission, and values
3.      Must be a current member of FBA or enrolled in First Class with the intention of becoming a member within the first three months of employment
4.      Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field preferred 
5.      Previous experience working with individuals with special needs or in a related field required 
6.      Strong interpersonal, relational, communication, and organizational skills 
7.      Ability to recruit, train, equip, and coordinate volunteers 
8.      Ability to coordinate ministry programs, participants, and events 
9.      Must support and model FBA’s culture and service expectations, including the Red Carpet Standard (H.E.A.R.T.) and 3M Strategy

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.      Coordinate the Special Needs Ministry under the leadership of the Director of Children’s Ministry
2.      Provide a safe, welcoming, Christ-centered environment that supports biblical teaching, discipleship, and spiritual growth
3.      Partner with parents and caregivers to provide communication, resources, and support
4.      Assess participants and coordinate appropriate placement, accommodations, and individualized support
5.      Maintain accurate participant records to support safety, security, and effective care
6.      Recruit, train, equip, schedule, and support ministry volunteers
7.      Support outreach to families affected by disability and connect them to the Gospel and life of FBA
8.      Coordinate ministry programs, fellowships, and special events
9.      Collaborate with Children’s Ministry, Disciple Life, and other FBA ministries on programs and initiatives
10. Provide administrative and ministry support to maintain an organized and effective ministry

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  1. Support the overall ministry and mission of FBA
  2. Model an authentic Christian witness through personal conduct, relationships, integrity, and servant leadership
  3. Participate in ministry events, outreach opportunities, and church-wide initiatives as required
  4. Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable FBA and ministry policies
  5. Pursue appropriate ministry and professional development
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned
